DAVIESS CO. — The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to combat impaired driving and enhance road safety ahead of the Labor Day holiday.
From August 16 through August 30, officers will be conducting increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints as part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration leads this initiative.
According to data from 2024, alcohol was a factor in nearly 14% of all traffic fatalities in Indiana, while drug impairment was involved in more than 35% of traffic fatalities.
