A Hadley woman who made national headlines after she allegedly unleashed a swarm of bees on sheriff’s deputies who were trying to enforce an eviction in 2022 was arrested in Tennessee after she failed to appear for trial in Massachusetts.
Rorie Susan Woods, 57, was apprehended at a hotel in Tennessee on Thursday, two days after a Springfield District Court judge issued a warrant when Woods was a no-show for her first day of trial on the 2022 charges.
When Woods encountered the deputies at the Longmeadow home three years ago, police say she arrived in a vehicle towing beehives. She got out of the car and “began trying to open the lids to unleash” the bees, according to the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department. A struggle ensued as a deputy tried to stop her.
