CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Two things are certain for what the last seven weeks of the season are going to look like for Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Chase Burns.

He has a soft innings limit for this season that the Reds are going to account for in their planning. But the team doesn’t want him to be shut down at any point.

“He has an innings count that we’re looking at,” Nick Krall said. “There’s a little bit of science and a little bit of art to it. We’re trying to figure out what’s best to get him through the end of the season and how he stays there.”

On Monday afternoon, Terry Francona brought Burns into his office. Burns won’t make his previously scheduled start on Wednesday. That spot in the rotation will be filled right now by Hunter Greene, who will return from the injured list.
