CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Cincinnati Reds have a lineup that’s plucky and sure of its identity, but it’s also a group that has been frustrating and inconsistent all season.
Entering Monday night, the Reds had the fifth-most games in MLB this season where they’ve scored 11+ runs, and the teams they trailed (the Yankees, Cubs, Rays and Red Sox) have some of the most dynamic offenses in MLB.
Now, following Monday’s 4-1 loss to the Phillies, the Reds are tied for seventh in MLB with the most games where they’ve scored two runs or fewer. The Reds’ 41 games in that category only trail teams (the Pirates, Royals, Rockies, Rangers, White Sox and Nationals) that have some of the worst offenses in the sport.
