Hearing shots ring out in the night has left people living on Edgar Street shocked and frightened.

An 11-year-old girl was injured as a result of a firearms offence, according to the Regina Police Service.

Officers were called to a residence on the 1000 block of Edgar Street shortly after 2 a.m. Police said the victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Preliminary investigation shows multiple gunshots were fired at the residence from outside the residence, said the police in a statement. The investigation is ongoing, but at this time, there appears to be no risk to the public.

Police ask anyone in the area who has video surveillance from the past 24 hours to reach out to RPS investigators.
