CHICO — Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale), the seven-term congressman for California’s District 1, held a town hall at the Chico Elks Lodge this morning addressing more than 800 attendees.

Anger permeated the room with outcries, two “shame” chants and expletives screamed at the congressman.

“The less frequently you show up and have town halls like this, I believe that the harder it will be to facilitate effective conversations,” said Chico Councilor Katie Hawley to LaMalfa in one of the first public comments. • People hold up green crads as Rep.
