DALLAS — The Skillman Southwestern Library branch is once again slated for closure in Dallas' proposed municipal budget, reigniting a community fight that neighbors thought they had won a year ago.

The proposed closure is part of Dallas' $5.2 billion budget that prioritizes public safety spending, with nearly two-thirds of the general fund dedicated to police officers and firefighters. The budget includes millions for street improvements, raises for new officers, and cuts to two community pools, along with the library branch.

"I guess we're right back where we started a year ago," said Maggie Watson, who started a petition to save the library last year. "I'm so so angry and frustrated."
