Grabbing an egg on a stick is always the first stop at the Iowa State Fair for April Elsberry and her husband.
"Gotta start with the egg and end with a bucket of cookies and a corndog," Elsberry said.
Elsberry waited in a fast-moving line at the Iowa Egg Council stand inside the Agriculture Building on Monday, Aug. 11. She accepted her hard boiled egg from a volunteer and added a "little bit" of Cookies seasoning to spice it up.
"I thought it was awesome," Elsberry said of her initial thoughts of the more than 20-year egg on a stick tradition. "It was an Iowa thing."
Elsberry isn't the only fairgoer who thinks the hard boiled egg stand is a must stop. The Iowa Egg Council broke its daily record on Sunday, handing out more than 22,000 eggs, said Executive Director Kevin Stiles. The
