WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A new Georgia Senate committee will hold its first hearing next week to examine what they call the state's unregulated recovery housing industry, addressing concerns about safety and quality of care for people transitioning from addiction treatment.

The Senate Study Committee on Recovery Residences, created through Senate Resolution 311 , will meet Aug. 18 at 8:00 a.m. in the state capitol. The bipartisan committee, chaired by Sen. Randy Robertson, R-Cataula, was formed to study what lawmakers describe as a largely unmonitored network of approximately 256 recovery residences across Georgia.
