LANCASTER, N.Y. — A fire destroyed a home in the Town of Lancaster Monday.
Firefighters were called to a home on Peppermint Road around 12:30pm.
Millgrove Fire Chief Bob Eleczko tells 2 On Your Side the homeowner had been away for a few hours and called 911 after spotting smoke coming from the home when they returned.

A police officer first arrived on scene and found the home, which sits far back from the road, fully engulfed in flames.
“There’s not too much of the house left,” Chief Eleczko said, adding that one side was already collapsing when firefighters arrived. "There's not too much of the house left," the chief said. "The house, one side of it was already collapsing upon our arrival
