LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington native and popular Christian singer is headlining a benefit concert this evening in support of survivors of the May 16 deadly tornado.

It’s been a little under three months since a powerful EF-4 tornado devastated the Sunshine Hills neighborhood in Laurel County, and many victims are still in need as the community continues on its road to recovery.

The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky is just one of the many local organizations contributing to relief efforts in the counties affected by the May 16 tornado.

“Being three months out from when the tornado happened, we are nowhere near what the end of recovery looks like,” said Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky CEO Kristin Walker Collins.
