BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Boyle County Health Department says a bat found in the Perryville/Mitchellsburg area has tested positive for rabies.
Officials are reminding residents to avoid contact with wild animals or pets behaving abnormally, and to report sick or injured wildlife to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
Anyone who has been bitten or scratched should call the health department at 859-236-2053 for guidance.
Pet owners are urged to make sure their animals are up to date on rabies vaccinations.
