NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officials responded to a reported sinkhole near a roadway in western Alachua County on Monday.
Officials say the sinkhole opened near Southwest 46th Avenue and State Road 45 in the area of Newberry.
They estimate the sinkhole is 6 feet wide and 20 feet deep. It isn’t impacting the roadway.

Crews filled the hole with dirt and concrete. They will check it later to see if the hole is growing.
