MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- Parts of Wisconsin are under an Air Quality Advisory through Tuesday, August 12 at 3 p.m. due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
According to a news release from the Wisconsin DNR, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups level (orange) or the unhealthy level (red) for places like Juneau and Adams Counties.
Anyone who is sensitive to compromised air quality is advised to limit time outside, take breaks as needed and watch for symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath.
People with asthma should follow their action plans and keep quick relief medication on hand.
The heaviest wildfire smoke is expected in far northwestern Wisconsin. A cold front forecasted on Tuesday should alleviate the smoky conditions.
