LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - New details have emerged about an incident involving an off-duty Laredo police officer early Sunday morning, August 10.

Laredo Police Department officials say the call came around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 1400 block of Los Estribos Drive. The off-duty female officer was found inside her residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Joe Baeza, a spokesperson for LPD, identified the officer as a 26-year-old who has been with the department for about one year.

“We are asking for everybody to say a little prayer for her,” Baeza said. “She is in extreme states of recovery, and hopefully she will come out of the condition she is in. The wound is in her head.
