Officials in Haverford Township, in Delaware County, are expected to vote on Monday night on a bill that would add helmet requirements for riders of e-scooters and electric bikes.

The vehicles have been a concern after 12-year-old Abby Gillon was killed while riding an e-scooter with a friend in Aston back in June.

The legislation, Ordinance No. P9-2025 – E-Scooters and E-Bicycles , would institute a requirement for riders under the age of 16 on e-scooters and electric bikes to wear helmets while operating these vehicles.

If this ordinance passes, it will go into effect in 10 days.
