LAKE COUNTY, MI — A 69-year-old woman from Irons has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing death of her husband.
As part of the plea agreement, Betsy K. McIntyre will serve between 20 and 40 years in prison, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Monday.
McIntyre is said to have stabbed her husband 14 times on May 11, resulting in his death. She was charged with first-degree murder by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office, but agreed to a plea deal on Monday, Aug. 11.
Nessel’s office has been managing and supporting prosecutorial functions in Lake County since Lake County Prosecutor Greg Mick resigned in early June. It will continue to do so until the prosecuting attorney vacancy is filled.
