Montana’s governor signed an executive order Monday to create a statewide workforce training initiative he said would help the state get federal grant funding under Trump administration executive orders and increase the waning labor force participation rate, which has been in decline over the past year.
Gov. Greg Gianforte and Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) Commissioner Sarah Swanson announced the “406 JOBS” initiative at the Boeing manufacturing facility Monday morning in Helena. The officials said the “406” in the title stands for providing four pathways to employment, zero barriers to work and in six high-demand sectors.
The Gianforte administration has been advancing apprenticeships and small business ownership in Montana throughout his two terms thus far. T
