BUTTE — If you ask Brandon Scown how the first annual Montana High School All Star Baseball Game came to be, he would tell you it began at Rockin’ the Rivers in August 2024.
That’s when two men – Scown and Mel Hamilton – hatched a scheme to bring a Shrine baseball game to Montana.
Scown and Hamilton were each working their own booths during Rockin’ the Rivers, and in between vendor work they came to realize they were both baseball guys. Hamilton was there representing the Shriners at his own booth and raised the idea of an East-West All Star game for baseball.
“I told him at the time, ‘Well, if you want to pursue that, let’s do it,’” Scown said. “‘I’m pretty sure I could lock down all the facilities to make it happen.’
