SEYMOUR, Connecticut — When the town of Seymour was hit with massive floods a year ago, it washed away cars, businesses and livelihoods.

Last year's devastation was clearly visible at Klarides Village, with 14 of the 16 businesses in the plaza destroyed within hours.

One of those businesses is Woodland Wine & Spirits. Owner Neil Patel said the holidays are some of the busiest times for his business and he was afraid they would miss both Thanksgiving and Christmas. He said it nearly took a miracle to open back up just months after the flood on Nov. 21.

"It's a lot of work. First of all, when this happened, I give up. The first time, not able to keep open the store," Neil said.
