The Gaviota Roadside Rest Area along Highway 101 has been closed due to issues related to the availability of the water supply from an inland spring that is needed to operate the facility.
While the facility is not under Caltrans control, the department reports that work is still underway to restore water, further extending the rest area's closure which began on July 1.
In the meantime, it is estimated closure may continue through the summer months with an anticipated opening at the beginning of October.
