Longtime volunteer Warren Arnold — otherwise known as “Warren the bike guy” — was recently honored for his 30 years of service with the Lompoc Police Department.
Chief Kevin Martin presented a plaque to Arnold during a short ceremony on Aug. 7, recognizing the 90-somthing retired teacher turned community service agent.
According to department officials, "every Friday afternoon, Warren would show up at the LPD to register bicycles for Lompoc residents. If you have ever had a bicycle registered here at the LPD, you surely got to meet Warren."
In addition to logging bikes, Arnold shouldered other important duties, researching bikes that officers would find out in the field and tracking down their owners. He also made sure new officers knew how to fill out the bicycle forms correctly, the d
