A traffic closure was in effect Monday to allow crews to replace two palm trees near College of the Desert in Palm Desert.

The closure began at 6 a.m. and was expected to end around 2 p.m., according to the city.

Workers from West Coast Arborists were replacing two declining date palms along San Pablo Avenue, from the roundabout at COD to Magnesia Falls Drive, officials said.

Drivers were advised to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. Access to College of the Desert will remain open from surrounding streets.
