KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A family’s push for change on a Knox County road is happening a year after they lost their daughter in a head-on crash.

Knox County leaders are investing thousands of dollars on Schaeffer Road in an attempt to make it safer.

“When you lose somebody that you love, especially a child or someone in your family, that grief can consume you,” said Sarah Roberto, who lost her 21-year-old stepdaughter, Kylie, in April 2024. “It just feels really good to do something tangible to make the community better.”

Now when you drive the long, curvy road, you’ll see and feel some new additions. It’s something the Roberto family has been pushing for since Kylie’s death.
