Key Largo Mother’s Discovery Leads to Teen’s Arrest on Firearm Charge
MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 15-year-old Key Largo boy was arrested Monday after his mother discovered a 9mm handgun in his backpack, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Largo Road at approximately 1:45 p.m. after the mother of Juan Pablo Villegas, 15, called to report finding the firearm. There were no reported injuries in the incident.
Villegas, who is known to law enforcement from previous interactions, was charged with possessing a firearm under the age of 18. He was taken to jail following his arrest.
