Explosions at a massive United States Steel mill in Western Pennsylvania left two people dead and at least 10 injured, according to officials from Allegheny County and U.S. Steel.
The explosions occurred at U.S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works — Clairton Plant, also historically referred to as Clairton Coke Works, which is the largest coke-making facility in North America.

The coke and coke by-products made at the facility are key to operations at U.S. Steel’s facilities in the Pittsburgh region, but, according to the company , also serve other companies and industries in the United States.
