SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter police are searching for two suspects and have a third in custody in connection with the planned armed robbery of a man earlier this year.

Police say the incident happened May 25 when a 42-year-old man said he was visiting one of the suspects at their home when two armed, masked men approached him. Police say the men attacked the victim, demanded his phone and then forced him to make a financial transaction using an app-based platform.

The reportedly victim drove himself to a local hospital after the incident, where police were notified.

Investigators have identified two suspects still wanted in the case: Niquan Elek Dingle, 25, of Silver Street, and Elexius Shonte Brockington, 29, of Rast Street. Both face armed robbery and conspiracy charges.
