SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Dakin Humane Society has received a $14,500 grant from the Massachusetts "I'm Animal Friendly" license plate program, supporting the organization's spay and neuter services.

The Massachusetts Animal Coalition offers grant funds annually through its license plate program to organizations within the community that provide necessary pet services. This year, nearly $3,300,000 has been distributed as part of this initiative.

Dakin Humane Society will use these funds to continue providing care at its Community Spay/Neuter Clinic, which serves as one of the largest locations in New England. The clinic has conducted over 134,000 surgeries for pets since it first opened in 2009.
