We finally broke the dry streak in Springfield with overnight storms bringing some much-needed rain to the city. The airport picked up 0.08" of rainfall, the first measurable rainfall since July 18th. The pattern will support additional opportunities over the next couple of days before it dries out and heats up again.

Showers and thunderstorms this evening will gradually shift east, likely winding down by midnight. Areas near and west of a Harrison to Rolla line should have the best chance to enjoy some of this rainfall. The rest of the night looks pretty quiet with most areas remaining dry.

Tuesday should offer up another shot at scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. It likely won't be as hot as recent days thanks to clouds and increased rain chan
