An appeal has been launched to try and overturn a decision to block a new takeaway from opening after it was argued it would be too close to schools. Cambridge City Council refused to grant permission for plans to open the new takeaway in Trumpington.

A planning application had been submitted to the authority asking to be able to change the use of 78 Poulter Walk from a restaurant/cafe to a hot food takeaway, and to install new extraction and ventilation equipment. However, the city council argued the proposal would breach planning policies that aim to stop takeaways from being within walking distance of schools.
