Parents on Universal Credit with work obligations could be eligible to reclaim up to 85 percent of their childcare expenses. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has clarified that parents who incur childcare costs while they are working can receive additional financial support if their child participates in activities such as holiday clubs and after-school clubs.

However, if the parent lives with a partner, the partner must also be employed, unless they are unable to care for the children due to a health condition or disability.

The maximum amount you can claim each month is £1,031.88 for one child or £1,768.94 for two or more children. You can apply for assistance with childcare costs for any children under 16 for whom you are responsible.
