CINCINNATI -- What a difference a year makes.
At this time last year, Taijuan Walker was in the middle of a stretch in which the Phillies lost nine straight times when he took the mound. He had a 7.36 ERA during that span -- one that ended only when he lost his starting spot at the end of August.
Fast forward to 2025 and Walker is back to seemingly giving the Phillies a chance to win every time he takes the mound. That was certainly the case once again in Monday night’s 4-1 win over the Reds at Great American Ball Park.
The Phillies didn't get their first baserunner against Reds lefty Andrew Abbott until the fifth inning. Abbott was still on the mound in the eighth and looked poised to make a run at a complete game when he struck out Harrison Bader and Otto Kemp to start the frame.
