TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The return to trade careers is becoming more widespread, especially for college graduates seeking a job.
TJC School of Skilled Trades and Continuing Studies officials say they have seen an 18.7% enrollment jump in the past year.
“63% of our students are in a 18- to 24-year-old-age bracket,” said Brent Wallace, Dean of TJC School of Skilled Trades and Continuing Studies.
With rising demand, trades can offer high pay, job stability, and quicker entry into the workforce.
“There’s programs that can get people ready to work much faster than a traditional four year program,” said Wallace.
As of 2025, the number of people enrolling in trade schools rose by 15 percent compared to previous years, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
