PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - People in Pueblo could be voting this November on whether or not to increase sales and use tax by 1%.
Pueblo City Council is voting on an ordinance that if passed would give voters the opportunity to decide if they want their sales and use tax to go from 3.7% to 4.7%.
If approved, city leaders say this could generate more than $26 million in revenue for the city. The majority of this money would go towards the general fund.

Late last month the ordinance passed on first reading by a vote of 5-2.
If City Council approves the ordinance, the next step would be to put it on the November 4th ballot for voters to decide.
This increase would mean if you spend $100, you’d be charged $4.70 in sales tax.
