COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - About eight months after unsafe conditions at Jenkins Middle School forced their students out, District 11 said they are ready to welcome most of them back.

In January , an inspection brought up safety concerns after the discovery of cracks in the walls and floors, which firefighters said had progressively worsened. This was eventually found to be due to the soil beneath the school.

The school closed and some parents said they were upset. District 11 Superintendent Michael Gaal said some even withdrew their students from Jenkins.

“We did lose some families,” Gaal said. “I think there was some doubt, and I think that’s a lack of trust that exists in the public sector right now, not just District 11.”
