The St. Louis Cardinals seemingly waved the white flag on the season at the MLB trade deadline when they traded a trio of expiring relievers.

The flurry was headlined by the Ryan Helsley trade that saw the Cardinals land a solid return of prospects from the New York Mets. But trading Helsley opened up a big hole at the backend of the Cardinals' bullpen that the front office needs to fill in the offseason.

Cliff Williams of Redbird Rants recently suggested the Cardinals should pursue New York Yankees hurler Devin Williams at the end of the season when he lands in free agency.
