A dual-engine airplane experienced a rough landing at an airfield in Atlantic County Monday afternoon when its landing gear apparently malfunctioned, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA.
The Piper Aerostar 600 landed at Hammonton Municipal Airport on Academy Drive around 12:25 p.m., an FAA spokesperson told NJ Advance Media. Only the plane’s pilot was onboard at the time, officials said.
The unsteady landing happened because the plane’s landing gear was retracted, officials said. The agency did not say if the pilot was injured, directing questions to local authorities.
The FAA will investigate the landing, officials said. It was unknown whether the plane was leaving the airfield or arriving at the time it landed.
No further information was immediately available.
