ROSEVILLE, Minn. — For most customers pulling into the Dairy Queen in Roseville, the journey is not long.

Different story for the man behind the counter.

“About three years,” Rodolfo Depaz says between orders he’s taking for sundaes and hot dogs.

April marked three years since Rodolfo legally arrived here. The United States granted him the status to work. The work ethic Rodolfo brought with him.

Faby Quevedo, his Dairy Queen manager, still remembers Rodolfo’s interview at the picnic table in front of the store.

“I was waiting there for him,” Faby says.

She was expecting Rodolfo to drive up in a car.

“I saw a man walking down the street,” Faby says. “It was him.”
