MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. —

A massive lightning strike in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, was caught on camera Monday.

The lightning struck a utility pole along Highway 17 near Shelmore Boulevard and caused an explosion that knocked out power for the entire area.

The lightning strike was captured on a police officer's dashcam, showing the explosion climbing high into the air.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department said no one was injured, but Hwy 17 was closed for several hours.
