A proposed upscale shopping center with restaurants in northern Fort Wayne garnered little opposition Monday at a public hearing.

Rob Warstler of Warstler Realty has said he plans on investing about $18 million in Coldwater Commons, a development just south of Northrop High School. Warstler said he sees a need for more high-end shopping and restaurants, similar to Ruth’s Chris Steak House, in Fort Wayne.

Mike Hoffman, a Beers Mallers attorney representing the project, said Monday the development would have about 43,500 square feet of retail space in three buildings, a splash pad and more than 290 parking spaces. Development plans also include three outlots that could be used for future development.
