HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The city of Huntington says it is cracking down on millions of dollars in unpaid fees.
The city is looking to collect more than $18 million owed by negligent property owners.
Twenty certified letters were sent to affected property owners, giving them 30 days to pay before the city says they plan to file lawsuits.
In a release, Mayor Patrick Farrell said the effort was made possible by increased funding for legal services in his first budget.
“Without that funding, our hands would have remained tied, as they had for years.
