PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Peoria Public School Board on Monday voted to stop the employment of a superintendent search firm.
In the meeting minutes, the school board had put on the consent agenda to employ From the Heart International Education Services, a superintendent search firm, to help find a new superintendent.
However, the search firm had already posted the job opening for the Peoria Public Schools superintendent before they were voted in by the school board for employment.
Community members came to the meeting in an uproar, as they criticized the school board for a lack of transparency and making a deal behind closed doors. Speakers also said the school board has gone a step further by already deciding who the next superintendent will be.
