MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Maryville Little League is honoring the memory of one of its senior players Monday evening after he died on July 27.

According to the league, 17-year-old Shannon Nabors was “a bright light to everyone who knew him,” and the league is dedicating its fall season to him. Nabors played for Maryville Little League’s Senior League and the ICE travel team. He was also a student at William Blount High School and a member of the football team.

On Monday, the league paid tribute to Nabors in two ways. Before the first pitch at 6 p.m. on Field 5, his sister Kaitlyn Onks and cousin Kyren Lane threw out the ceremonial first pitch. For the first play of the game, Nabors’ hat and glove were placed at shortstop, the position he loved, in lieu of a player.
