Needing another Democratic state like a hole in the head, however, President Donald Trump thinks the District of Columbia needs a good dose of martial law or the next best thing.
From the White House on Aug. 11, Trump declared a state of emergency in the nation’s capital, co-opted the city’s Metropolitan Police Department into federal service and announced the deployment of the National Guard to combat crime in the streets of Washington.
