WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A new 50% tariff on goods from India is hitting some shoppers in Wichita.

The owner of Asian Groceries in east Wichita says a 50% tariff could make certain items difficult to sell. He's worried about his customers and says some increases may be unavoidable.

Inside Asian Groceries, shelves are lined with items imported from India.

"Hopefully this will not affect people like us who come here and shop," Golnar Prudhomme, who frequents Asian Groceries with her sister, said.

Golnar and her sister shop here frequently to purchase items such as Indian rice and prepared Indian bread.

"These people are very honest and they did, you know, they put a reasonable price for people like us," said Prudhomme.
