GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — This back-to-school season in Michigan has many still asking a lot of questions.

How much money will state schools have to work with? How will parents, educators and schools deal with the possibility of higher costs?

Looking to answer some, Governor Gretchen Whitmer toured one Grand Rapids school with educators and lawmakers on Monday, talking to reporters afterward about things like rising costs.

"I was here talking with some of the teachers," Whitmer told 13 ON YOUR SIDE as she spoke with reporters. "Just going and buying hand sanitizer, you know, is $40 for a huge, for one of the big bottles."

It comes as schools still don't have a state education budget, not knowing exactly how much Lansing will be giving them for the year.
