SALEM, Ore. – Governor Tina Kotek has raised alarms about a projected $15 billion cut in federal funding for Oregon's health insurance and food benefits. This reduction comes as a result of a budget reconciliation bill passed by Republicans in Congress, with support from the Trump Administration.
The State of Oregon's Chief Financial Officer conducted a "preliminary analysis" of the bill, highlighting significant financial impacts on the state. The analysis is subject to change as federal guidelines for implementing the bill are still pending.
