HENDERSON, KY. (WFIE) - Yesterday, was Derby day, at Ellis Park, and it was quite the day, for jockey Tyler Gaffalione. He won six total races Sunday, including four of the stakes races, on the card.

Gaffalione guided ‘Comport’, ‘Tumba-rumba’, ‘Big Truzz’, and ‘Sturgeon Moon’ to stakes wins, and also rode ‘Mister Mmmmm’ and ‘Zeus’s’ Echo’, into the winner’s circle. To think, only three weeks ago, he returned to the saddle, after missing four months, with a broken ankle.

Gaffalione was actually, just one win shy, of tying the record for most riding wins in one day, which is seven, set by jockey Willie Martinez, back in 1993.
