BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: A tropical disturbance over the Gulf will continue to generate scattered downpours and a few storms on Tuesday. Be alert for the possibility of some rain in the morning with scattered rain chances continuing into the afternoon. Otherwise, the sky will be partly to mostly cloudy, with highs in the low to mid 80s. You can expect another good chance for showers and a few storms on Wednesday and Thursday.

THE NEXT BIG THING: The next big thing for us will be building heat for the end of the week, with some strong storms possible in the afternoons. Highs will be back in the low 90s by the weekend, with heat index levels topping 100º. We will be monitoring Saturday and Sunday for the possibility of First Alert Weather Days for heat index temps
