HOUSTON (AP) — Ramón Urías had three hits with a two-run homer and Chas McCormick hit his first homer this season as the Houston Astros built a big lead and held on for a 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night.

Mariners’ Josh Naylor was snubbed for AL Player of the Week

While the win for the Astros (67-52) keeps them ahead of the Seattle Mariners (66-53) by a game for the AL West lead , it gives the M’s extra breathing room in the American League wild card race. Seattle’s lead over the Red Sox (65-55) is now 1 1/2 games for the first of the AL’s three wild cards.

The Mariners did not play Monday.
